Pete Marshall
These are a few painting from the ‘media’ collection. I made a painting on newspaper covered canvas. It had a raw feeling and I liked it. On a rough, uneven, irregular surface – it seemed to work. After-all we’re all imperfect stories unfolding, all influenced by media – newspaper, film, television. It colors us, it’s there in our background. The one painting became a collection of 27 called ‘media’.
Where ever you are
Inspired by beauty in my
daily surroundings, I aspire to create simplistic moving pieces that touch and reflect ourselves
About me
When I look at an artwork its about how it makes me feel or rather whether it makes me feel. I am not really interested in why or even how. If I am moved or touched in some way I think it works. Perhaps there is something inside me that connects or identifies, maybe some memory that isn’t really mine. In the process of painting I can get a thrill in recognizing the way light can define a small shape or form into an element of beauty. In some way I aim to capture the beauty and complexity of life. I hope that my paintings are able to inspire or elicit feelings in others.
Just a bit more about myself
Photography has also become an important part of my work. I care for what is happening in the world as well as what is done to it. I like art, music, literature, chess and hiking. I find Painting a meditative process but can also find it exciting. I hope that I am able to express myself with colors and shapes, elements I find difficult to conveyed with language alone.
